1258 (10") Tidal Pavilion. Category 10: Pavilions, Conference Centers, Roof Structures
Jay Barker & Chris Hunter: British Columbia, Canada
The Tidal Kayak pavilion is a celebration of natural systems; the structure is positioned by the rise and fall of the oceans tides. The form of the structure is expressive of the inherent tensile strength of structural bamboo one large cantilever that is allowed to bend and sway with the elements. Concrete, rebar, and a simple wire-wrap system are used as connectors.
